The Serpentine Pavilion 2019 / Junya Ishigami
Emerging smoothly from the landscape of Hyde Park’s summer, is Junya Ishigami’s ‘stone hill’. Welcome to this year’s Serpentine Pavilion…
The concept of the Japanese architect was to design the pavilion to become part of it’s surroundings and landscape. Irregular shaped slate was the chosen roof material as it looks more organic, like feathers, giving an illusion that the roof is like a bird spreading its wings, and the slender pillars holding the roof are like falling rain.
The annual Serpentine Pavilion is free to the public and is open from 21 June – 6 October 2019.
